Making 2013 the Year of the Student!
Friday, April 27
8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Courtyard by Marriott
1475 S. Colorado Blvd.
Denver, CO 80222
Colorado students are paying the price for our state’s broken education funding system. The Great Futures Coalition is proud to host our 2012 Conference to foster the public support to empower state leaders to fix this problem and to make 2013 the Year of the Student.
This is NOT a Conference about whether Colorado has an education funding problem, or what year might be best to fix this problem. The status quo is endangering the future prospects of our students, our economy, and our communities. This is a day to bring together dozens of public education supporters to learn, motivate each other, brainstorm, and acquire the tools to make 2013 the year that Colorado finally fixes our insufficient education funding problem.
Join us for a day of learning, motivation, and action!
Registration includes: Light Breakfast, Box Lunch, a 2013 Year of the Student Project T-shirt, and an informative and action-packed day of events.
Conference agenda snapshot:
-The Nuts, Bolts, and Tools for the 2013 Year of the Student Project!
-What are Colorado students missing? A dose of perspective about the impact of chronic underfunding and what opportunities other better-funded states are providing — extended learning time, the ability to attract a high quality teacher force, more course offerings, cutting edge technology, and affordable, accessible higher education.
-The latest on the Lobato school funding decision, what’s ahead, and how to enforce this landmark ruling.
-Breakout sessions addressing local grassroots organizing and how to effectively communicate state level funding issues, in-depth Twitter and Facebook training, and education funding 101 / 201!
