Our Mill Levy Override Tax Dollars at Work in SVVSD

St. Vrain is seeing changes and improvements in their education offerings, thanks in part to the voter approved 2012 Mill Levy Override.  One of the key areas these dollars support is early childhood education and preschool in our school district.  According to a recent study there was a need for additional preschool spots needed in our area.  This year, the St.Vrain Valley School District was able to open the new Spark! Discovery Preschool in Frederick to meet this need. This preschool, on the campus of the former Frederick Elementary building, serves the Frederick High School feeder system and has a STEM focus.  With the help of the new tax dollars the classrooms were retrofitted and made appropriate for the new preschool classes. St. Vrain Valley Schools continues to accept applications for these new programs.

Another change on the horizon is taking place at Mountain View Elementary in Longmont.  Beginning in the 2014-15 school year Mountain View will be converted into a Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade school.  With the help of funds from the MLO, bond money, and a BEST matching grant from the state, Mountain View will be able to expand its preschool offerings and help fill the need in Longmont for preschool spots.  The fifth grade will be incorporated into Longs Peak Middle School, where students will have access to expanded electives and advanced coursework.
