Each year, GSV has made it a priority meet one-on-one with Senators and Representatives who represent any part of the SVVSD before the Legislative Session begins in January. In the past, we have traveled to the Capitol and various other meeting spots convenient to these busy lawmakers. We believe this is important because it allows meaningful relationships to be formed, detailed questions to be answered and key concerns to be shared. Furthermore, it serves as a reminder that GSV and the SVVSD are invested in the work of the legislature.
This year, we decided to meet with these elected leaders in a new location: our schools. Partnering with principals and other school leaders, we invited our legislators to have a conversation about public school funding in the heart of where this funding unfolds. Principals generously engaged in constructive conversations with lawmakers and proudly spoke about the students, staff and programs in their various buildings.
We are encouraged that our lawmakers will have our schools foremost in their minds when they consider legislation that affects students and education in the St. Vrain Valley. Thanks to the schools and leaders that participated.
